Sega Bodega has shared the new song and video ‘I Need Nothing From You.’ Watch the video below. Bodega will release his new album – Romeo – on 12th November, ahead of his UK/EU tour scheduled for 2022.
Sega Bodega has shared the third offering from his upcoming album Romeo due 12th November. ‘I Need Nothing From You‘, cowritten by Bea1991, comes alongside a Rick and Claire Farin at Actual Objects directed video and features simple instrumentation, with a metronome-like tone keeping an off-kilter beat against the soft piano and choral backing vocals that elevate as the song progresses.
Romeo tells the story of a joyous relationship between Bodega and a mythical girlfriend, Luci, made entirely of light. The project channels the whirlwind of emotions in early love through masterful break-beat and experimental electronica production, interwoven with ethereal synths and harmonising choral vocals. The new project uncovers a new level of intimacy and emotional depth in his songwriting.
Romeo will mark the second full-length from Sega Bodega and includes features from Arca and Charlotte Gainsbourg among the project’s ten songs. The project encompasses the new song ‘I Need Nothing From You‘ and previously released singles ‘Angel On My Shoulder‘ and ‘Only Seeing God When I Come,’ which Office Magazine depicted as, “floating hypnotic choral harmonies over weaving break-beats and ethereal synth.”
Following the release of Romeo, Sega Bodega will head out on a European tour in January 2022. The eleven-date run will begin in Dublin and includes stops in Amsterdam, Paris and London before wrapping up in Moscow in early February. Tickets available here.
Sega’s sophomore album will follow his critically successful 2020 debut album, Salvador. Through the chaos of early 2020, Salvador saw Bodega at his most raw and vulnerable, swirling emotional and psychological turmoil amongst experimental and hard hitting production. Pitchfork noted, “what makes the record click is that it feels relatable, yet entirely on Sega Bodega’s terms: ambitious, lonely, and aching for intimacy.”
