WHAT A WEEK of new music… from some true powerhouses in the industry, these will all make you say #TGIF and bring on the weekend in true country-style.
1. Florida Georgia Line, Colorado
Florida Georgia Line released two new tracks today, Colorado and Simple, but it’s Colorado we just can’t get enough of. Taking FGL back to their roots, its the kind of track that made us fall in love with them in the first place. This track may yet be the one that converts the doubters and those who call them traitors to ‘true country,’ but it’s a hell of a big tune, with a huge production, beat and melodies, all overlaid with that heavy twang we expect from FGL.
2. Luke Combs, Houston, We Got a Problem
Serious question here – does Luke Combs ever hit a false note? Seriously? All four of the tracks that complete his Deluxe album, released today, show exactly why Combs’ career has ricocheted over the past year and proves that he’s a force to be reckoned with, and one with serious staying power. Alongside this powerful tune, ‘Must’ve Never Met You,’ ‘A Long Way,’ and ‘She Got the Best Of Me,’ are staunch ballads that will, no doubt, enable Combs to play stadiums for years to come.
3. Lucie Silvas, Kite
This is the first taste of Silvas’ new album E.G.O. that is due to be released later this year, and if the tune is anything to go by, we’re in for some true treats for the ears, as some fans will have already heard when Silvas toured the UK late last year. The empowering track will make any woman (or man) proud, proving yet again, why Silvas is a force to be reckoned with in Nashville, without having to scream the loudest or exhibit the most diamanté.
4. Dan + Shay, Alone Together
The latest track released from Dan + Shay’s next self-titled album, due for release on the 22nd June. It is yet another sweet tune from the duo, reminding us why everyone fell in love with them in the first place, perhaps not one of their most unique, or stand out tunes, still this is a true summertime goodie.
5. Catherine McGrath (feat. Hunter Hayes), Don’t Let Me Forget
It is absolutely staggering that McGrath is only 20 years, particularly given the sheer calibre of all the tracks released from ‘Talk of This Town,’ that she has penned either solo, or in collaboration. This next track, melds perfectly the harmonies of McGrath with country heartthrob Hunter Hayes, into a sweet, mature and perfectly poised melody that leaves us, yet again, wanting more – bring on the release of her album in July 2018 – it is sure to prove one hell of a debut album.
6. Brandon Robert Young, Hate It For You
It is rare that a song can stir even the most ice-hearted, yet Brandon Robert Young, has the ability to do just that… This is the kind of whispering beauty that many will fill many an acoustic playlist, and leaves everyone’s appetite for Brandon’s music full to bursting.
7. Michael Ray, Her World or Mine
Indisputably the new break-up anthem for many, this beauty of a track, released from Michael Ray’s album Amos, is a beauty that will affect many. Ray is a force to be reckoned with, having gone from strength to strength in recent months, and we can all just hope he makes the trip over to the pond soon to garner some more fans over here!
