1. I Believe in You by Ward Thomas
Ward Thomas had significantly high expectations to live up to, off the heels of their 2016 album, ‘Cartwheels,’ and the pre-released tracks from this their third album are blowing them out of the water. This track is more in line with the tracks we expected from ‘Cartwheels,’ a hugely pacy guitar-riddled track – one that it is hard to sit still to and provides a beautiful contrast to ‘Lie Like Me.’
2. Slower Lower by Jimmie Allen
It is nigh impossible not to be drawn to Jimmie Allen’s charm and warm energy that exudes from every track he releases, with almost impossibly relatable lyrics coupled with sweet, energetic melodies. This next from his ‘Slower Lower Sessions,’ is a sunny, summery track, as uplifting as they come and makes us yet more excited to hear Allen when he comes to the UK in October.
3. Goodbye Summer by Danielle Bradbery
Bradbery’s single ‘Hello Summer’ has got a reboot and remake here, making it into a single with the addition of fan favourite Thomas Rhett – it’s everything we love about the duo at their best, tight harmonies, yet letting the impossibly sweet notes of Bradbery’s voice shine to their full.
4. Son of a Highway Daughter by Ruston Kelly
It is hard to know why we haven’t sat up and taken notice of Ruston Kelly for so long, but now we’re sitting to full attention. This beautiful new track by Ruston, filled with gorgeous atmospheric effects, introduced with a gorgeous a capella beginning. The track is rife with poignancy and perfect touches of storytelling – a masterpiece of songwriting.
5. Forgive and Not Forgetby The Rising
In honour of the release of ‘Moving On’ in it’s entirety, by The Rising, our favourite track from the album makes it onto our weekend soundtrack, but it’s definitely worth checking the album out in its entirety here. This band from Northern Ireland are going to earn a place in your heart soon, with their tight, sweet, Gloriana-esque harmonies that definitely have a nostalgic feel to their music.
6. Cool by Rachel Reinert
Ex-Gloriana singer, Rachel Reinert has just released this easy-breezy summery song that has already captured our ears, and we can’t get it out of our heads. With beautiful, Little Big Town-esque harmonies that leave us wanting more, we can’t wait for what’s to come for this, Rachel’s first single venture – the skies are bright for this star.
7. See Ya Later by Katy Hurt
We fell in love with this track at first listen, and we still can’t get it out of heads. Katy Hurt’s latest single, ‘See Ya Later,’ is everything we need this summer – check it out and play it again and again.
