Folk artist Suzie Brown has released her new track ‘Till I Make It To You,’ alongside announcing her upcoming album – Some See the Flowers – out on 20th May.
Celebrated folk artist Suzie Brown has chronicled her unique experience as a creative, cardiologist, and mom during a global pandemic on her upcoming, highly-anticipated new album, Some See the Flowers – out May 20. The first single from the project – “Till I Make It To You” – is out today and provides a strong sonic introduction to Brown’s current musical direction. It tells a story relatable to anyone that’s had to spend a prolonged period of time away from loved ones in the past couple of years. “Till I Make It To You,” which was co-written by Brown with Annika Bennett and Judy Blank and produced by Billy Harvey.
Brown solo- or co-wrote each of the ten tracks on Some See the Flowers, drawing on her own unique experiences in 2020 and 2021 as inspiration. A part-time cardiologist specialising in heart failure and heart transplant at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, she witnessed the toll of COVID-19 first hand. Like many artists, the pandemic forced Brown to cancel shows and postpone release plans and as a mother, Brown worried daily about the well-being of her two daughters. These emotions were first felt in last year’s single release “Another New Normal” – a tune whose brazen lyrics detail the obvious shift in daily life forced upon us.
