Thomas Rhett’s recent music has felt like the music that he was born to create, now he has released his first new music since the release of Country Again (Side A) earlier this year. The new track, written with his father Rhett Akins alongside Matt Dragstrem and Chase McGill and is an emotional display of what it is like to be a father and a son – an intimate love letter to his father and the things that he has brought to his life. Rhett debuted the track at the Grand Ole Opry at the weekend. It’s a full-circle track narrating the journey from being a son to being a father as well, and was written in celebration of father’s day.
Things dads do
Give you his old recliner for your new living room
And he’ll call too much
And out of the blue without asking to show up
He’ll give you advice about your career
Complain and ask why your fridge is full of weird beer
That’s just a few things dads do
