Timothy Wayne has released his major label debut track with ‘God Made A Country Boy.’
Country newcomer Timothy Wayne has released his major label track debut, “God Made A Country Boy.” The upbeat anthem illustrates Wayne’s background of growing up in the Tennessee country, learning the value of hard work and respecting others. It’s a celebration of your roots, delivered in a honeyed Southern twang and is a charming introduction to the new artist. Written by Brad Warren, Brett Warren and Lance Miller, the song is produced by Tim McGraw and Byron Gallimore.
“I grew up working on our family farm in the summers, working in the fields, bush hogging, mowing, taking care of the horses, and I loved it,” said Wayne. “It taught me a lot about responsibility. It was tough work, but a more simplistic way of life. My parents made a point of teaching me (and my siblings) about respecting others, standing up for beliefs and having manners. And, if you disagree with someone, you can still be respectful toward them. When I heard this song, I really liked the idea behind it and knew I wanted to record it because it really showcases who I am as a person.”
This summer, Wayne will perform at Nashville’s CMA Fest (June 6 on the Reverb Stage) and he will also be the opener on several dates of Tim McGraw’s Standing Room Only Tour 2024.
Lyrics for ‘God Make A Country Boy”
Somebody’s gotta cut the grass
Stop and help you fix that flat
Kiss his mom but not your ass
So, God made a country boy
Somebody’s gotta fill the back pew at church
Somebody’s gotta sunrise turn the dirt
Ain’t afraid of a little work
So, God made a country boy
We need somebody that just shows up
With his heart on his sleeve and a dog in his truck
Country girls need somethin’ to love
So, God made a country boy
We need somebody that ain’t afraid
To say what he mean and mean what he say
So, that’s why on the eighth day
God made a country boy
We need an “I was wrong” with a hat in his hand
Knows when to give and not give a damn
Shows up when it hits the fan
God made a country boy
He made him strong
And he made him proud
He made him pray to make the rain
Make the corn pop out of the ground
We need somebody that just shows up
With his heart on his sleeve and a dog in his truck
Country girls need somethin’ to love
So, God made a country boy
We need somebody that ain’t afraid
To say what he mean and mean what he say
So, that’s why on the eighth day
God made a country boy
We need somebody that just believes
In “don’t hate you if you don’t agree”
That’s what this world needs
So, God made a country boy
So, God made a country boy, yeah
We need somebody that just shows up
With his heart on his sleeve and a dog in his truck
Country girls need somethin’ to love
So, God made a country boy
We need somebody that ain’t afraid
To say what he mean and mean what he say
That’s why on the eighth day
God made a country boy
And he made him strong
And he made him proud
He made him pray to make the rain
Make the corn pop out of the ground
God made a country boy
God made a country boy
God made a country boy
God made a country boy
