Jake Owen has released his new single – Best Thing Since Backroads – available everywhere now here.
With fans hearing the song for the first time via a Country Radio World Premiere, the single is a tribute to the simple perfection of true love. The track compares a soul mate connection to the easy euphoria of a two-lane cruise, written by Ben Johnson, Jordan Minton, Hunter Phelps and Geoff Warburton.
It’s dedicated to the one thing an old gravel road and that special someone have in common – they’re both the most direct route to a good time. And with a windows-down Country-Rock sound produced by Joey Moi, it finds Owen staying on the gas in journey of recent success.
Most recently, the Florida native celebrated his ninth #1 with “Made for You,” a heartwarming smash that spent two weeks on top of the Country radio charts in May. PLATINUM-certified #1 “I Was Jack (You Were Diane)” and GOLD-certified #1 “Homemade” were also featured on the project, and along with “Down to the Honkytonk,” the star brought them back to the stage for a good cause last month.
Benefiting the CMA Foundation with Jake Owen & Friends: A Concert Made for You, Owen sold out Nashville’s historic Ryman Auditorium, helping raise money to support music education programs around the nation. But his first headlining appearance at the famed Mother Church of Country Music also honored a different kind of career highlight.
During the show, Owen’s DOUBLE-PLATINUM classic, “Barefoot Blue Jean Night,” was recognized as the most-played Country song of the 2010-2020 decade.
