Friday not only brought warmer weather, but also a sizzling new single from Noah Schnacky – She Broke My Heart. Madeline Christy reviews the new track.
Schnacky independently released his debut single ‘Hello Beautiful’ back in 2018, and has only been climbing the ladder since. If you’re lucky enough to, you have recognised the Minneapolis face from 2019’s Country to Country: town square stage where he performed his debut works and single ‘Maybe We Will’, following his new record contract with Big Machine Records – putting him on the same roster of the likes of Thomas Rhett, Carly Pearce and Danielle Bradbery. Only last summer did the songwriter release this first self titled EP; an introduction to this small town loves and heartbreaks.
While lyrically ‘She Broke My Heart’ is replete with romantic loss, production-wise the new year track is embroidered with sunny guitar riffs and old school drum instrumentation. Regret turned thankful, the song celebrates lessons learnt about pride and moving on. The gleeful tune was co-written alongside Laura Veltz and Lindsay Rimes, who help to turn a house of blues situation into a carousing of serendipity.
Opening with sharp acoustic guitars and a sparky electric riff, the track catches your ear straight away. While the hook of the song is ‘she broke my heart’, Schnacky is anything but still hooked on an old flame as he sings the chorus:
‘Cause I wouldn’t have been riding solo
Friday night at the house of blues
And I wouldn’t have been there to accidentally spill my drink on you
You wouldn’t have laughed at how I dance
I wouldn’t have tried to hold your hand
I wouldn’t have thought I had a chance
But here you are
Thank God she broke my heart‘
Hopefully this is only the beginning of the insight to a new sound from Schnacky and the craving for a full debut album.
