The soCal country love song for the decade. ‘Forever and always’ sings of ‘Even the bad times are good’ and ‘Let it be me’ honky-tonk love. In this track we see Californian country star Sam Outlaw pair up with the darling herself, Sarah Darling…We’ve been wondering just what the two had been working on during their session back in June.
The duet is a great contrast to Outlaw’s last sensual single ‘love is on a roll’. Instead find this track stripped back to the back porch basics; dobro and drums that seem to chug along until the end of time. It’s also another side to Darling’s country catalogue, which is usually fused with pop. It’s a great vulnerable side to see from both Brit-adored singers.
Though both big in the UK, the two were yet to cross paths for the song, until introduced through mutual friend, and songwriter, Jeff Cohen. When researching Darling, Outlaw came across the 2017 hit ‘Where Cowboys Ride’, which Outlaw found to reflect his real-life cowgirl wife perfectly; also given the fact that the music video was shot in the same small town where his partner grew up as a ranch hand. The rest was history and the song is ‘Forever and always’
