We review the new EP from Track45 – Big Dreams – released today via BMG/BBR Music Group, including their debut single ‘Met Me Now.’
The joy that emits from new duo – Track45 – is palpable, coming through on every single on their new EP Big Dreams released today through BMG/BBR Music Group. The Mississippi-born trio have been steadily rising since their introductory Small Town EP, and this new project solidifies their place and path in the country genre, one that hasn’t seen a trio like this before. The sibling trio hail from Mississippi and comprise Ben, KK and Jenna – each gifted songwriters and musicians with individual publishing deals and impressive writing credits between them, including songs recorded by Justin Timberlake, Charlie Puth, Lee Brice, Dierks Bentley, Weezer, HARDY, and Lauren Alaina – their talent and artistry is clear in the way that they have crafted this new project, including the shrewd choice of a less well known Dolly Parton cover. Totalling five songs, this collection of songs includes the trio’s debut single “Met Me Now,” that is set to impact US country radio next month.
Simply put, this is a project that the world needs right now – filled with simple joy and love of music – and there is an immense sense of likability for the trio that comes through in this project the captures the multi layers of the trio’s sound and their songwriting. The project opens with the single ‘Met Me Now,’ a track about finding the right person at the wrong time, ‘If I could rearrange the time somehow / If you had met me now / You’d have what you deserve.’ Though the message is regretful, the track is uplifting, finding peace with the past in a way that feels intensely hopeful. The track sets a precedent for the gorgeous multi-layered harmonies that seem to flow effortlessly from this sibling trio.
The pace is taken back a notch on ‘Little Bit More,’ that feels weightier, with heavier instrumentation and Ben’s vocal is given time to take the spotlight. It’s got a certain groove that feels edgy in the context of country music, but sets the trio apart. This before moving into the RnB infused ‘Come On In’ that reveals the heart of the trio and their upbringing, telling tales about their childhood. This is possibly where their harmonies are strongest, as they sing about their home telling the story of who they are, and has flavours of early Lady Antebellum coming through. The original songs on the record are rounded out with ‘Me + You’ that offers yet more sonic variety – a sweet and sincere love song. ‘Nothing adds up like Me + You.’ It’s a lilting beautiful melody, with harmonies moving back and forth between the trio and is a stunning testament to what the trio are about.
The project rounds out with the Dolly Parton cover ‘Light of a Clear Blue Morning’ that is so artfully done, you’d be hard pressed to realise it’s a cover – so fitting is it with the trio’s vocal sensibilities. Track45 are a trio that seem to already inherently understand their path and artistry and this project just feels like the tip of their capabilities, we’re waiting with baited breath to see what they do next.
