Last night, The Vaccines performed in the second supporting slot for Kings of Leon at BST Hyde Park
The Vaccines kicked off an energetic display on Sunday 30 July at BST Hyde Park, supporting Kings of Leon, with a set that proved they still have staying power 13 years into their career. The band, who formed in West London in 2010, put on a massive display of their hits, from the demo that started it all (If You Wanna) to tracks from their debut album What Did You Expect from the Vaccines? (Wetsuit) to tracks from their latest album Pick-Up Full of Pink Carnations (Heartbreak Kid).
Across the spectrum of their material, the band put on a formidable display – oft not an easy feat for the earlier slots on the bill, but The Vaccines proved their popularity with the London crowd who were whipped up into a fever pitch of excitement by the hefty tracks. They feel like a band who are not at the peak of their stardom, but who have real staying power to grow and grow, and their fanbase with them. It’s to be hoped that they picked up a few numbers to add to that base on Sunday night, as they showcased their newer ‘West Coast’ sound.
