The Hating Game Movie is now out in the US, and will be coming to streaming services in the UK and Europe in due course. Here, we give our thoughts on the hotly-anticipated film version of Sally Thorne’s novel, starring Lucy Hale and Austin Powell.
The Hating Game movie adaptation of Sally Thorne’s much loved novel is now out in select theatres and on-demand. It’s a film as delightfully propulsive as the novel on which it was based. The chemistry between Lucy (Lucy Hale) and Josh (Austin Powell) fizzes through the screen, moving with an easy patter through this delightful film that exudes charm from start to finish. The dialogue is easy and natural – romantic without being cloying or cliche.
Lucy Hutton and Josh Templeman are rival assistants at a publishing house who are incapable of seeing eye to eye, but what becomes clear over the course of the film is how fine the line between love and hate is. For fans of best-selling novel by Sally Thorne, The Hating Game movie will satisfy – quite a feat given the cult status the novel has achieved, with its delicious sexual chemistry throughout, for which Lucy Hale and Austin Powell are supremely well cast. This is a film well worth a watch in the Christmas period.
