JP Saxe is fast positioning himself as one of the most exciting new artists to emerge in recent years. Now, JP Saxe has released his debut record – Dangerous Levels of Introspection – available everywhere now here.
GRAMMY® Award-nominated singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist JP Saxe has experienced a phenomenal rise, marking a series of major accomplishments, following the release this massive breakthrough single ‘If The World Was Ending’ (feat. Julia Michaels), he earned a GRAMMY nomination for Song of the Year and a Juno Award for Breakthrough Artist of the Year. The anticipation was therefore real for the release of his full-length debut record, Dangerous Levels of Introspection. The record is simply one of the most eloquent and introspective records to emerge in the pop landscape in recent years – underscored by unfiltered songwriting and cinematic production. Of the record, Saxe says: “My favourite music has always been the songs that make me feel closer to myself, and I want to make that kind of music,” he observes. “In order to do that, I have to be as close to myself as possible when I write these songs. So, it feels like you get to hear what I’m thinking. There’s no pretense or bullshit. I was as uncompromising as I could possibly be with this album to make sure I really meant everything I was saying about myself and my world.”
Dangerous Levels of Introspection collates the highlights that have sound-tracked his career to date. As well as ‘If The World Was Ending’ (produced by the six-time Grammy Award winner FINNEAS), it features established fan favorites, including lead single ‘Like That’, ‘More Of You’, Maren Morris collab ‘Line By Line’ and ‘A Little Bit Yours’. However, the record also unveils a treasure trove of new material that delves yet further into the heartfelt, reflective song-writing that have become synonymous with JP Saxe. The intimate “4:30 in Toronto” opens the album with a vulnerable crescendo of emotion as he ponders “two things that used to feel like home just not anymore, a person and a place.” On the other end of the spectrum, he collaborated with the legendary Mike Elizondo and prolific songwriter Audra Mae to bring the finale “Sing Myself To Sleep” to life – a heartfelt tribute to his late mother over acoustic instrumentation. Alongside Morris and Michaels, the record also features another mammoth and eloquent collaboration with John Mayer that positions Saxe yet further as an artist in control of his own artistry and vision. Dangerous Levels of Introspection reveals an artist in full control of the full artistic and emotional spectrum.
