How to Not Die Alone was written by Logan Ury, compiling her research on common mistakes people make when looking for love, laying it out in a simple-to-use guide. The book is designed to help modern daters find a way to navigate where they might be going wrong and shift their perspective in order to maximise their chances to find the right relationship. It’s a book that is rammed full of the kind of advice you want to give to your friends, filled with humour, care and occasionally tough love. Although a lot of the advice seems very obvious, there is also a large part of the book that deals with some really interesting thoughts around behavioural science. It’s refreshingly humorous in tone and whilst geared more toward the single market, there is a healthy chunk of advice for those in longer term relationships, those getting over break-ups and those navigating whether to break up. The book is a simple, easy and propulsive read and there are certainly areas that you’ll want to bookmark and keep for future reference. Expect this to shift your perspective when it comes to dating, but don’t expect that this will allow you to meet your ‘soulmate’ the next day (besides, fellow romanticisers, Ury has told us after all to erase that term).
