Just in time for Easter, we’re breaking down our five favourite faith based records by country singers.Â
5. Loretta Lynn, Hymns (1965)
Released in 1965, Loretta Lynn’s first gospel album set a precedent for tasteful and celebratory Christian music, released through Decca Records. The album consists of twelve gospel and inspirational songs.
4. Johnny Cash, Hymns (1959)
Hymns was the fifth studio album and first gospel album for Johnny Cash, with stand-out tracks including ‘It Was Jesus’ and ‘I Saw a Man.’
3. Josh Turner, I Serve a Savior (2018)
Turner released his seventh studio album, I Serve a Savior, in 2018 and it was his first release to celebrate his Christian faith. The record was brought to life at an extraordinary country concert at legendary venue Union Chapel in London, where Turner’s signature deep vocal rang true in the incredible acoustic setting, celebrating his faith.
2. Hillary Scott, Love Remains (2016)
She has just announced that she is hosting a new Christian faith show on Apple Music, but before that Scott released this formidable record that celebrated her Christian faith in true resplendence.
1.Carrie Underwood, My Savior (2021)
Just released, Carrie Underwood’s first gospel record is a phenomenal source of inspiration and celebration, with Underwood’s vocal at centre stage. For the record, Underwood drew from her childhood songbook, including ‘Amazing Grace’ that she sang back home in Oklahoma growing up.
