NSAI Name ‘More Hearts Than Mine’ The 2020 ‘Song Of The Year’

The Nashville Songwriter Awards presented by City National Bank have announced their 2020 ‘Song of the Year’ is ‘More Than Hearts Than Mine’ written by singer-songwriter Ingrid Andress and her co-writers Sam Ellis and Derrick Southerland. The ‘Song of the Year’ is the top vote-getter in the voting for the ’10 Songs I Wish I’d Written’ awards, revealed on Monday, October 5, 2020.

This is the final category for the 3^rd Annual Nashville Songwriter Awards presented by City National Bank, and all awards were presented in multi-part video series, with Billboard premiering key categories as the official media partner of the Awards.

“More Hearts Than Mine” was Andress’ debut single on her critically-acclaimed debut album Lady Like, which was released on March 27, 2019. The ACM New Female Artist of the Year nominee has already broken numerous long-held records since that release. She co-wrote and co-produced every track on Lady Like, which currently holds the title of highest streaming country-female-debut of all time. “More Hearts Than Mine” was soon Gold-certified, soaring to No. 1 at country radio and will go down in history as the only solo-female-debut to crack Top 20 on the Billboard Country Airplay chart last year.

Ellis is a Nashville-based Canadian songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist. He has worked on a wide range of cuts by artists including Thomas Rhett, Kane Brown, Hunter Hayes, Jordan Smith, and Jacob Sartorius. Ellis has also lent his production and writing skills to numerous film and television projects, including the most recent “Farmer In All Of Us” anthem co-written and produced for the 2018 Ram Trucks ad campaign. His recent success includes the Lady A hit, “What If I Never Get Over You.”

Southerland is a platinum-selling, multi-genre songwriter. His conversational lyrics and memorable melodies appear on Grammy winner Carrie Underwood’s “Storyteller” and Kane Brown’s viral Hot 100 hit “Like A Rodeo.” He’s recently garnered a CMA “Song of the Year” nomination, MusicRow nomination for Breakthrough Songwriter, and MusicRow “Song of the Year” win. Other cuts include Hunter Hayes, High Valley, Tim Hicks, Fletcher, Seaforth and Hey Violet.
