Ahead of C2C Festival, get to know a bit more about Canadian country star Tebey in his first UK single ‘Denim on Denim‘ out now.
If you haven’t heard of Tebey (pronounced TĀY-bāy), you have probably heard one of his songs. As well as being one of the Canadian country stars of the moment, Tebey has written hit songs for a host of other cross genre artists, from One Direction, Cher, Pixie Lott (“All About Tonight” also nominated for a Brit Award for Single of the Year), Fifth Harmony, and FLO RIDA to fellow country artists Justin Moore, Big & Rich, and many others.
Residing in Nashville for over a decade, the singer, songwriter and producer has in particular enjoyed a stellar two year run since 2018 with three #1 songs as a writer: a US #1 with Justin Moore’s “Somebody Else Will”; a Canadian #1 with Gord Bamford’s “Dive Bar” and his first #1 as an artist and writer with his own single “Who’s Gonna Love You”. He rounded off 2019 with a stunning duet with Canadian pop superstar Marie Mai “The Good Ones”, which Rolling Stone magazine likened to Lady Antebellum’s “Need You Now”.
In 2019, Tebey performed his first international tour dates with shows in Berlin, Cologne and the UK, where he was part of the prestigious Country Music Week. Now he releases his first UK single “Denim on Denim”. Written by Tebey, fellow Nashville-based writers Kelly Archer and Nathan Spicer, the song is Tebey’s top streaming track with over 8 Million streams to date.
Across his career, Tebey has scored multiple high charting singles as an artist, plus six #1’s as a songwriter: one in the US, one in the UK, and four in Canada. A favourite at radio, his singles have been noted for their substantial spin count and he has garnered “Most Spun Canadian Country Song” two years running. So far, his songs have amassed over 26.5 million streams. A triple threat, he has won awards as a songwriter, artist and producer.
Tebey and music industry veteran Jill Snell formed their own Canadian-based management company and label Jayward Artist Group Inc in 2019. Outside music, Tebey’s passion is his work with charities advocating for mental health care, anchored by his annual Tebey Golf Classic Fundraiser. 2020 will mark the 4th year of the tournament.
Look out for more Tebey announcements coming soon…..
