Aoife O’Donovan on the greatness of Joan Baez
She’s just such an icon. And, you know, she’s not somebody who’s really remembered, or really thought of as like this epic songwriter, even though she is totally an epic songwriter. She was also such an incredible interpreter of other people’s songs.
Aoife on collaborating with so many great artists
I love making music with people, I love collaborating. I love singing with people. It’s why I wanted to become a musician.
Aoife on her love of Miley Cyrus
If you really want to be blown away, just watch literally any live video of Miley Cyrus, she’s so good. Her Tiny Desk concert, where she does several songs from her record ‘Plastic Hearts,’ it’s one of my favorite things I’ve ever seen.
Aoife on people comparing her to Joni Mitchell
I mean, I think that’s just anybody’s comparison, is what it is. I don’t think, I’m obviously flattered by it, but I don’t take it as a pressure cooker thing, I just sort of say, “Ok, that’s nice that they said that.”
