Deluge Records Nashville announce signing of Blake Wood to their roster.
Following the announcement of their label launch, Deluge Records Nashville is excited to announce the latest addition to their artist roster with the signing of up-and-comer Blake Wood. The singer-songwriter releases his new single “Country Down,” today across all digital streaming platforms. Penned by Wood with Jon Wood, Bryce Mauldin and Johnny Clawson, and produced by Sam Grow, the tried and true country track honors the simple lifestyle and tradition.
“I’m so excited to be signed by Deluge Records Nashville and so thankful to have such an amazing team behind me that really believes in me and my music,” says Wood. “I can’t wait for everyone to hear these new songs we’ve created and I hope the people that listen to them can relate to them like I can!”
“When it comes to Blake, two words come to mind: genuine and authentic,” shares Grow, Partner at Deluge Records Nashville. “He is the type of artist that truly only knows to come from an honest place when he’s writing songs by himself or with other writers. He knows exactly what he wants to say when he sings because he genuinely knows who he is and where he comes from. Working with him is refreshing, but having him in the studio is electric and infectious to everyone around him. I fell in love with country music because of its honesty and I feel that feeling in every note Blake performs on a microphone. We are so blessed to work with him and I am blessed to be able to create with him.”
Deluge Records Nashville is modeled in the tradition of a classic collaborative music incubator. Similar to the legendary FAME Studio in Muscle Shoals or the spirit of places like Sun Records in Memphis and Motown in Detroit, the team at Deluge Records Nashville views its business as a place where budding artists can grow. DRN wasn’t created to extract all the worth possible out of its artists, instead, the team chose to foster relationships between artist and label, creating a home in which equitable recording deals aren’t rarities. DRN launched with the release of a single from the Country-pop artist Alexandria Corn.
DRN was born through a relationship between David Robkin, artist/producer/songwriter Sam Grow, and artist manager/radio veteran Brad Austin. Grow first decided to work with Deluge when he saw something from its founder he had never seen before. During a Nashville show, Grow noticed David Robkin in attendance and recalls, “these suits were all over at the bar, and they were all trying to talk to David. Instead of socializing and elbow rubbing, as soon as the show began, David walked away and focused on the artist. Man, that is so different from what I see in this town.” It was this passion for the music—for the art—that convinced Grow and Austin that Deluge would be the perfect home for their future.
