The Hating Game by Sally Thorne is set to become a movie next year, released through Amazon Prime in 2022 and in theatres on 10th December, starring Lucy Hale as Lucy Hutton. The movie is based to the enemies to lovers office romance between Lucy Hutton and Joshua Templeman – played by Austin Stowell – who are forced into competition when one of their assistant roles is to be converted into an executive role. The two spend their days antagonising and winding up each other, before ultimately falling for each other instead in this propulsive romance. Filming for the movie started in May 2019, with Hale and Robbie Amell in the lead roles, but in November 2020 Amell was replaced by Stowell, due to conflicts in filming schedules.
Joining Hale and Stowell, Gina Torres will join the cast, alongside Nicholas Baroudi as Joshua Templeman’s brother Patrick, Sakina Jaffrey as Helen, Kathryn Boswell as Mindy, Yasha Jackson as Julie, Damon Daunno as Danny, Billy Thomas Myott as Mack and Tania Asnes as Annabelle. The film will be directed by Peter Hutchings and written by Christina Mengert, alongside Sally Thorne.
