Taylor Jenkins Reid‘s hugely acclaimed novel Daisy Jones and the Six is now set to become a TV series, released through Amazon. The novel telling the rise and ultimate break-up of the fictional band ‘Daisy Jones and the Six’ became an instant hit upon its release, after its release in 2019. Supposedly, loosely based on the story of Fleetwood Mac, the tale is gritty, glamorous and propulsive and is sure to translate easily onto the screen. Here, we break down everything we know about the TV show so far.
Riley Keough has been cast in the titular character role
Riley Keough, the grand-daughter of Elvis Presley, is set to star as Daisy Jones in the limited series. Given her musical legacy, it’s a shrewd casting choice, following her roles in ‘Mad Max’ and ‘The Girlfriend Experience.’ The role is sure to posit her as one of the hottest talents in the coming years.
Sam Claflin and Suki Waterhouse will join Riley on the star-studded cast
Sam Claflin will join Keough in the role of Billy Dunne, with Suki Waterhouse playing Karen Sirko and Camila Morone as Camila Dunne.
No release date has been confirmed yet
Though the book was picked up back in 2018, given the ongoing pandemic, we don’t have a firm release date yet.
The series has been produced by Reese Witherspoon and will be released on Amazon
Even before the release of the novel, the TV show was picked up by Amazon for a 13 episode series. The series will be produced by Reese Witherspoon, under her production company ‘Hello Sunshine.’
The series will feature original music
Anyone who is familiar with the Daisy Jones book will know that music is really the main character, and we’re immensely curious to see how the hits such as ‘Honeycomb’ are translated when put to music in this production of the book.
