Prime Video have announced that there will be a sequel to Red, White and Royal Blue
If you were as engrossed and charmed by the delightful Amazon Prime adaptation of Casey McQuiston’s viral hit book – Red, White & Royal Blue – as we were, then the news that Nicholas Galitzine and Taylor Zakhar Perez will reprise their roles as Prince Henry and Alex Claremont-Diaz, his boyfriend and the first son of the United States, will be a source of immense joy.
Prime announced the news on 9th May, at a post-screening Q&A for the film in Los Angeles attended by Galitzine, Perez, the film’s director Matthew López, and Casey McQuiston, in which López confirmed the news, using the image of a messy wedding cake – ‘Fancy another slice?’ – in the promotion, either a call-back to the original movie, or a potential indicator of what we can expect from the sequel. The original film finished off with the couple together and in love, with Alex’s mother re-elected to office and with the two having shared their love with the world, including with Buckingham Palace.
Plot details are, of course, currently unknown but López has teamed up with McQuiston on the script, which is a hopeful note, and there are some indications if Galitzine referring to Thurman as his ‘mother in law’ is anything to go by. No date yet for the Red White and Royal Blue sequel but watch this space for more information!
