One of 2024’s most anticipated releases – the movie version of The Idea of You – here’s everything we know so far.
One of 2024’s most anticipated releases is The Idea of You – Prime’s movie version of Robinne Lee’s massively popular novel. The film will star Anne Hathaway and Nicholas Galitzine (recently in Red, White & Royal Blue and Bottoms). The novel told the story of a divorced mother – Solène Marchand – who falls in love with a young pop star – Hayes Campbell – after meeting him back stage. It was an incredibly popular book that has earned a legion of fans who have been awaiting the release of this film for years, ever since it was announced in 2021.
It has been popularly theorised that the book is based on Harry Styles fan fiction, though the author decries this, even though she does agree that Hayes was inspired by Harry Styles.
The cast also includes Mathilda Gianopoulos, Ella Rubin, Annie Mumolo, Reid Scott, Perry Mattfeld, Jordan Aaron Hall, Jaiden Anthony, Raymond Cham, Vik White and Dakota Adan, and will be directed by Michael Showalter (The Big Sick) from a script by Jennifer Westfeldt (Friends with Kids).
There is no firm date for release, but it will be in 2024 on Prime Video.
